Detective Chief Inspector Endeavour Morse is the fictional hero of a series of detective novels by Colin Dexter. He was an officer in the [Thames Valley Police]? CID. The novels were adapted into a successful TV series, with John Thaw taking the lead role. If you go to St. Aldate's Police Station, you'll see a sign in the window above the vehicle entry bay purporting to be his office.
