A cheap and cheerful Chinese restaurant and take-away at the bottom of Woodstock Road, nearly opposite Little Clarendon Street. Has a fairly bog-standard menu; service is quick the food is cheap and good. Oh, and it has a nice view over a graveyard, but don't let that put you off.

Used to be known as Dear Friends, then Friends, and then Wok 22 for a while, and then Wok 23 for a longer while. It was renamed Wok and Roll in March 2004.

Some of us (Simon et al.) have stopped going to Wok 2x since they became somewhat careless with the amount of meat in the vegetarian dishes. The new owners are better than the last lot, and have extended the menu with some very good duck and noodle dishes, but they still play Abba and Fox FM on the radio and they still provide abysmal service. But it's cheap and quick, and a good place for hackers to meet up.

[about the old owners]: I (Ganesh) have generally found the service to be OK - friendly if sometimes a bit slow. [about the new owners]: Service is OK, if not necessarily very good at understanding English.

But if you want cheap, quick and hacker-friendly, why not try the Radcliffe Arms, which is the traditional ox.scoff spot?

As of Sunday 29th February 2004, Wok 23 is being taken over by new management (the owners) and the staff are also likely to change. How this will affect the place only time will tell. Initial signs show an increase in price (hot and sour soup up to GBP 2.50 from GBP 1.80) and some variation in the quality of the food.

There is now a two-course set dinner for £5.80 which includes most of the starters and main courses from the full menu; the starters are full size, but the main courses are rather smaller than the normal portions.
