Sushi-on-a-conveyor-belt chain restaurant, Oxford branch opened May 2008 in the chain of chains ([[Giraffe]], Yo! Sushi, [[Nandos, George Street|Nandos]]) at the Worcester Street end of George Street. You are seated at a long bench alongside a conveyor belt on which little dishes of food pass you by. Grab what you want from the conveyor belt as it passes. Each eating station is kitted out with napkins, chopsticks, condiments (ginger, soy, wasabe), and still/sparkling water fountain (£1.00/glass, free refills). Green tea is available to order from your waiter (£1.25, free refills). Service was friendly and informal - and very efficient, although the airline-style "assistance" buttons are somewhat disturbing for a newcomer. The dishes are colour-coded by price, and you are charged based on the empties you have accumulated by the end of the meal. The price of each dish varies from £1.70 to about £5.00. Hot dishes (noodles, miso soups) are available to order from the kitchen. The food was not spectacular: I was disappointed with the selection of fish dishes available, which were limited to tuna, salmon, and prawns on my visit. Where was the sushi? Still, we managed to chalk up a £37.00 bill for lunch for two.
