Oxford Prison is no longer in use as a prison. It had been used in the past as a film set for productions such Spy Game (2001) and for the television series, Bad Girls.
More recently, it has been converted into a 5 star hotel by the Mal Maison group, and a visitor attraction called Oxford Castle Unlocked. Oxford Castle Unlocked was highly commended in the Small Visitor Sttraction of the Year category of the 2007 Tourism ExSEllence awards - does anyone have any idea whether these awards are meaningful?
