This is a very pleasant pub, famous for hosting the Headington Beer Festival. It has a friendly atmosphere, with a mostly middle-aged clientele, and welcoming bar staff. Nicely decorated and comfortably furnished - fairly open, but a couple of nooks if you want some privacy.
In keeping with its reputation, a good selection of real ales were on offer (a choice of 5 when I was there). Also stocked nitro-keg, lager, and alcho-pops, so something for everyone.
It is one of the 6 pubs entered into Oxford CAMRA's Pub of the Year 2004; they recently started brewing their own beer - not ready yet, but expected in time for Christmas 2004.
Won Oxford CAMRA's City Pub of the Year in 2010.
