November 2008: Reopened after closure in April.
Oxford's rock, metal and biker pub. The Gloc is a small and friendly pub tucked away down Friars Entry behind the soulless red lion. It gets pretty packed most evenings, especially on weekends, but is a good place for a lunchtime or mid-afternoon pint.
The beer is cheap, the Guinness is good and there's Addlestones for the zoider drinkers. There is a good selection of ales which are from local breweries. They have a thai food menu at the moment and it's very well priced.
There's a jukebox with a good selection of old and new punk, rock and metal, and there is heavy metal karaoke on mondays and a pub quiz on sundaysunday with rumours of a open mic night starting up soon. It's also one of the friendlier pubs in Oxford - if you check your attitude at the door you'll find it a laid back piss-taking sort of place.
