address='Christ Church (Entrance to the Gallery is via Canterbury Gate at Oriel Square)'

CURRENT Exhibitions:

'Drawing in Siena - from Sodoma to Salimbeni: Ten rarely seen drawings from the Christ Church collection' (5 February - 19 May 2014). Renaissance drawing and design is mainly associated with Florence and has dominated Tuscan art, despite the importance of other artistic centres in Tuscany. This display of 10 drawings from Siena will show that Sienese artists could measure up to their great Florentine rivals.

'Inferno - Purgatory - Paradise: Geoff MacEwan interprets Dante's Divine Comedy' (12 March - 5 May 2014)
Dante’s Divine Comedy has inspired artists for centuries; among them the British artist and print-maker Geoff MacEwan, whose abstract visual interpretation of the text invites us to look and read again. The exhibition will coincide with the Oxford Times Literary Festival.

Admission: £32. Free to those who have Bod cards and Art Fund members.

Christ Church is unique among the Oxford and Cambridge colleges in possessing an important collection of Old Master paintings and drawings, housed in a purpose-built Gallery of considerable architectural interest in itself. The collection consists of some 300 paintings and almost 2000 drawings and is strongest in Italian art from the 14th to the 18th century.

The internationally renowned drawings collection in the Picture Gallery at Christ Church is regarded as one of the most important private collections of Old Master drawings in the country. These small in-house exhibitions are changed about every three months to enable the public to see a varied selection from this part of the collection.
