2013: the name has reverted to the Wig and Pen

1st Feb 2008 - reopened after refurbishment

Last month it was a building site, but it has now re-opened. Didn't get a chance to call in, so not sure how much it has changed from below.

This used to be the Wig and Pen, but was refurbished recently and reopend as Copa. Warm and pleasant, well-lit with nice deep-pile carpets. Distracting television machines hanging from the walls. Serves a resasonable range of continental beers and lagers. Better than average pub food, reasonably priced at GBP 5.95 for burger and chips, with a range of more interesting main dishes at around GBP 10.00.

Drinks here are more expensive than your average pub,
but not out of line with other places that serve continental beers. GBP 3 is typical for a drink (which may not be a pint), though the original entry for this pub claimed GBP 4.20 so caveat emptor.

The only place in Oxford which serves Leffe Brune on tap,
though Far From The Madding Crowd has it in bottles.

May well appeal if the thought of drinking somewhere where they spell beer as 'bier'
gets you going.

Copa is also the name of
a unisex hairdresser on Walton Street in Jericho.

The beer can not be described as good (or even reasonable) value: I paid GBP 4.20 for a pint of bland continental lager. Somewhere to consider for food, but not a place to go for a serious drinking session.
