A Wetherspoons pub, opened 4 August 2008 on the site of the Slug and Lettuce and (before that) Yates's Wine Lodge.

This was the first Wetherspoons to open in the centre of Oxford, though the chain already had the William Morris in Cowley.

The name comes from a famous comedy sketch by Ronnie Barker, who attended the City of Oxford High School for Boys in George Street. There is a display in the corner of the pub explaining this. There are several other interesting-looking displays around the walls.
