(There is a second branch of Greens on Queen Street opposite the Westgate Centre.)

Located just next to the Eagle and Child pub, Green's occupies the ground and first floors of what appears, from the rough wooden beams, peculiarly-angled walls and rough plastering, to be a fairly old building.

The counter on the ground floor will supply your coffee, ice cream, baguette and panini needs, and their upstairs seating area is comfortable and well-spaced.

The ethos is very friendly and pro-good-causes (Fair Trade, healthy eating, organic food and so on). This extends to the good cause of free information, since they provide free wireless internet access (except between 12.00 and 14.00 — presumably they don't want people hogging the tables at lunchtime) and a healthy supply of power points, with the result that, as I write this, I am surrounded by patrons communing with their laptops.
