Hajduczek is tucked away on Cowley Road in an unassuming building. Inside, it's cosily sized and well-decorated. There's a bar at the entrance, and enough table space to accomodate a fairly large party. The food is apparently traditional Polish fare, and there's a good choice of starters and main courses. Particularly recommended is the hunter's stew ("bigost"). The main courses are decently sized, but not huge, which is a fine excuse to have a side salad with them. Vegetarians aren't very well catered for, but should still manage an enjoyable meal.

Hajduczek also serves a wide range of Polish beers and spirits. It's a good place to experiment with some really rather good vodka, and the Deadly Fog Shot (honey liqueur, vodka and rose liqueur layered together) is a tasty treat for the brave.

The atmosphere and staff in Hajduczek are warm and friendly. The music can vary from traditional Polish folk music to "Division Bell"-era Pink Floyd with no apparent incongruity. Hajduczek is well worth a visit if you're after something a little out of the ordinary, and you may just decide to make it a regular haunt.
