Version 3 Version 2

Expensive bar attached to the [Eastgate Hotel], used to be called 'Cafe Boheme' - bar staff are friendly and know how to make a good range of drinks. Place is open until 2am - entrance after normal pub hours was £3. A few comfy sofas and plenty of tables - seems to draw a fair number of students (probably due to locale), but no big noisy crowds the few times I've been there... Smoking is allowed all through the bar.

On Wednesday nights they do speed-dating ( www.speeddater.co.uk ), but if you're looking for lurve, try turning up at 9:30pm when it's officially ended and all the singles are still hanging around in the bar - you don't have to pay, and "So how many people did you tick?" is a great opener...

If you're a smoker, beware the cigarette machine which likes to pretend it's been turned off - keep pumping your coins through it and hitting buttons and finally it wakes up.
