Main information
Content:
Built circa 100AD the Roman villa lies near Akeman street. By the 4th century the villa had been enlarged in size and featured mosaic flooring which can be viewed inside a small building on the site. The hypocaust is also easily visible. The site was excavated in the 19th century and is now run by English Heritage. The site is unmanned and appears to be accessible 24/7. Access is via half a kilometre of farm track; parking is in a layby at the top of the track.
