Historical version 1 of Old Tom (view current version)

  • St. Aldate's

The Old Tom is a small, quiet pub on St. Aldates. Beer is Greene King and lagers, nothing to write home about. They do pretty good food, reasonably sized portions for around £7 for a main course.

The pub is narrow but deep - there are lots of tables but you'll have trouble squeezing more than four people around each one, and there's no room to pull several together. There may be bigger tables in the rear beer garden, but we didn't check this.

The pub had an old man with a cane nursing half a pint, asleep at the bar. I take this as a sign of quality.
