It has received mixed reviews, and seems to suffer the disadvantage of a particularly rude manager. If you have a tough skin, though, the cocktails are reputedly delicious.

I have been going to The Retreat on and off for the last year, and as well as enjoying the food, drinks and atmosphere to have been of a very high standard, I have always found the manager to be very affable indeed.

Read great reviews about this place but was very, very disappointed. Disgusting food (really, some of the worst I've experienced in any eatery), arrogant uncaring staff and zero ambience. Awful beyond words, and I rarely criticise unless it's really deserved. I still feel slightly ill after eating there.
