The first thing you notice about this place are the impossibly shiny chrome walls. The next thing you notice is that although the shop floor is full of people, you don't actually have to wait very long to get served. The staff here were, on the Friday evening I visited, numerous and efficient. I did my usual trick of ordering haddock, in order to get a freshly cooked fish, which worked.

The fish itself was okay. Not stunning; the batter wasn't crunchy enough, and the fish wasn't especially tasteful, but it's better than some. It reminded me that fish and chip shops are really only any good on the coast, with the fish eaten off newspaper on a beach at sunset.
