St Catherine's College is one of the newest and largest colleges in Oxford. Known as "Catz" to its friends, it was founded in 1962, although it has its origins in St Catherine's Society, a non-collegiate organisation set up in the 1860s.

The buildings, at Manor Road, are set out in the traditional shape of an Oxford College, but the architecture of Danish architect Arne Jacobsen is anything but. He designed everything about the college down to the cutlery, although most of the original knives, spoons and forks have 'disappeared' over the last 40 years.
