October 2009: Has just reopened after refurbishment as a bar/gastropub with a promising menu (food served 12-2.30 and 6-10, Saturday lunch till 3, Sunday lunch till 3.30, no food Sunday evening or Monday lunchtime).

Three 'PlantLock' combined bike stands and planters outside!

Formerly the Magdalen Arms, this has been taken over by the [Firkin Brewery]?. A fairly nice place during the daytime, with a pretty good range of food. Unfortunately, the day we went some of the food that was supposed to be hot was actually cold. Anyway, You'd go here for the beer, and perhaps (if you like that sort of thing) the ambience. There are two pool tables and lots of places to sit - some where the TV is well out of sight, and some where the TV is embedded in the wall next to the table. Looks like the music could go a lot louder than when we went.

Loads of beers from pumps (house beers, in that I got the impression they don't change very often), and 4 draught guest beers from the barrels behind the bar. Also a great range of continental beers in bottles.
