Historical version 2 of The White House (view current version)

Situated just past the station, The White House is more upmarket than most pubs, with a lovely garden for the summer with plenty of picnic tables.

Really describes itself as a bar/restaurant rather than a pub. One sign of this is the little paper things that you get under your pint, the other is:

Very very nice food, though a little on the more expensive side. Evening meals are about £5/starter, and £10 for the main. This is where it shows

The bar menu (I believe only served at week-day lunchtimes) is more pub-like, but with a definately hint of the gourmet. The Fish and Chips comes as a hunk of battered fish served on a bed of mushy peas, and a side-order of chips.

Oh, and the Chef really knows what to do with meat. If you want a dry, grey, flavourless burger, go to the Goose. Here you will get a succulent burger with the juices flowing and pink on the inside unless you waste it by asking for it well done.

Beer: London Pride, 6X, Abbot £2.60 (May 04)

Lowenbrau (I think that is how it is spelt) also £2.60
