A tutorial is a small class of only one or two students, in which the tutor gives individual attention to the pupil.
The tutorial system is fundamental to the method of teaching at the Oxford University, but it is by no means peculiar to it. It is however rare for newer universities in the UK to have the resources to offer individual tuition.
