Small cycle shop with deceptively large stock of bicycles, spares and accessories. Friendly staff will spend time giving help and advice, but service can be poor when shop is busy. Shop and workshop can be disorganised at times, and this can lead to the staff getting flustered. That said, if you catch them at a good time, service is excellent and staff will go out of their way to be helpful.
They stock a good selection of reasonably-priced hybrid bikes ideal for around town, as well as some high-end mountain bikes and road (racing) bikes. In addition to the familar Dawes, they also stock a few traditional (and trendy) Dutch bicycles by Gazelle, with other sizes and models available to order.
If you're looking for a new bike, lights, lock, panniers, helmet, cycling shoes and waterproof jacket, you'll find them here, all under one roof. They also have a workshop for repairs, located a couple of streets away from the main shop. I've found them generally reliable for repairs, but it's best to take your bike along for a quick assessment before booking in for repair. If you book in advance and give them a chance to order in any spare parts, they will normally turn around the repair within 24 hours.
This shop has real character and, despite their variable temparament, the staff are really enthusiastic about cycling and, having been in the business for years, are very knowledgable. Keep an eye out also for the stained glass window at the back of the shop.
