Reviews of pubs in this guide tend to focus on their availability of real ales: noble really, but I prefer to focus on the availability of comfortable armchairs. Jude The Obscure has comfortable armchairs and if you are lucky enough to score one your night, nay week, is made. If you manage to get a seat I like this pub—it doesn't have horrible TVs and tends to have a friendly crowd. The range of beers is adequate (to my unsophisticated tastes) and they seem to have guest ales.
They claim to have food but the time I tried (a Wednesday night) after consultation behind the bar they decided they didn't have food that day.
