Expensive bar ([[PBI]] of 10.25) attached to the [[Eastgate Hotel]], used to be called 'Cafe Boheme' - bar staff are friendly and know how to make a good range of drinks. Place is open until 2am - entrance after normal pub hours was 3 (but the only time I've been we arrived at about 1am and were charged nothing — jds). A few comfy sofas and plenty of tables - seems to draw a fair number of students (probably due to locale), but no big noisy crowds the few times I've been there...

On Wednesday nights they do speed-dating ( www.speeddater.co.uk ), but if you're looking for lurve, try turning up at 9:30pm when it's officially ended and all the singles are still hanging around in the bar - you don't have to pay, and "So how many people did you tick?" is a great opener...

If you're a smoker, beware the cigarette machine which likes to pretend it's been turned off - keep pumping your coins through it and hitting buttons and finally it wakes up.
